The Rwanda Ministry of Health has partnered with Irembo to introduce the Health Facilities Licensing Platform, a digital tool to enhance and simplify healthcare services throughout Rwanda.

Dr Rene Kabalisa, Principal of Research and Development of the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), noted that the Health Facilities Licensing Platform significantly advances Rwanda’s healthcare system.

He emphasized that by leveraging advanced technologies, essential services are digitized, allowing healthcare providers to prioritize delivering high-quality care to all Rwandans.

The platform encompasses 13 digital services and seamlessly integrates with Irembo’s secure payment system, markedly enhancing efficiency and accessibility. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Health underscored the importance of integrating with Irembo to provide a single and seamless frontend user experience.

This collaboration highlights technology’s profound impact in addressing critical challenges and improving lives. By streamlining processes and enhancing accessibility, these solutions aim to optimise healthcare efficiency and promote equity. Driven by a belief in the potential of digital innovation to reshape public services, this initiative marks a significant stride towards a healthier future for all Rwandans.

The objective of the launch event was to educate various stakeholders, including public institutions and startups, about the Public Procurement for Innovation (PPI) framework. This framework utilises research and development to address critical challenges and promote economic growth. Angelos, a Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT) representative, remarked that the launch of the Health Facilities Licensing Platform describes a significant advancement for Rwanda’s healthcare industry and reaffirms their commitment to using technology to address societal challenges through its partnership with Irembo.

In statements from Irembo representatives, Patrick Ndjientcheu, Chief Product & Engineering Officer, expressed that “Irembo is leveraging technology to revolutionize healthcare and improve the lives of Rwandan citizens. Irembo is honoured to be part of this transformative project. Our secure and efficient digital solutions are expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in Rwanda”.

Noella Kajeneri the director of Business Development highlighted that; “this is part of the many projects Irembo will be rolling out in its quest to provide a single interface for citizens and businesses seeking for Government services.”
